MY BIGGEST LISTING YET: REAL ESTATE PHOTOGRAPHY IN LINDEN, MICHIGAN
One of the first clear spring days of 2025 took me to a beautiful 2,000+ sq ft custom-built home in Linden, Michigan—my highest-value listing. Listed at over $500,000 and tucked into one of Linden’s most upscale neighborhoods, this home was full of character, warmth, and light. And let me tell you—this one was a pleasure to shoot.
Real estate photography in Michigan provides opportunities to experience unique homes and stories; this session was no exception. I spent the morning with the homeowner, who welcomed me like an old friend. Over the course of the shoot, I learned that he had built the home himself 25 years ago and was now moving to be closer to his grown family. Hearing that story added an emotional layer to the work—it reminded me that I’m not just photographing walls and windows, I’m helping tell the story of a home.
I’ll admit, I felt a bit of pressure when I pulled up. This was a big home in a very high-end area, and I wanted to ensure every image reflected that. But just like every shoot, it came down to the same rhythm: one room at a time, one thoughtful angle after another, looking for the best way to capture each space so potential buyers could see themselves there.
I started with my Canon 16mm lens to get those essential wide shots—clean, bright, and true to the layout. Once I had the foundation, I made a second pass with my Sigma 35mm Art lens to capture more artistic, detail-rich shots of the home and the surrounding property. The combination of the two approaches created a perfect mix of practical and emotional—the kind of images that help listings stand out in today’s competitive Michigan real estate market.
