Every House Deserves a Good Photo Even the Rough Ones.
A property with a face for radio in Flint, MI.
I got a cold call recently from a local "cash for houses" company. Honestly, I was kind of pumped. It wasn’t a referral or a friend of a client—it was pure, local SEO doing its job. That means all the effort I’ve been putting into my website is finally starting to pay off.
Now, they didn’t sugarcoat it. This was not a glamorous listing. No granite countertops. No cute porch swings. It was a Flint property in rough shape and a rougher neighborhood. But they still needed solid images to help market it—and they came to me.
Before I ever brought my gear inside, I walked the place solo. Camera equipment locked up tight in my car. I just needed to make sure I was truly alone. No tenants. No squatters. No surprises. I wasn’t looking for an adventure, just the job.
Let’s be real—this house was rough. The back door was busted in. There were holes in the ceiling with water damage. One room felt like a breeding ground for mosquitoes. There was a fridge so moldy I could smell it from the hallway. And I didn’t even open the basement door. I wasn’t trying to meet whoever or whatever was down there.
But I took the photos anyway. Cleaned up compositions. Strategic angles. Honest but marketable. Because even in that condition, this property means something. Somebody is selling it, somebody else might buy it, and hopefully someone will turn it into a home again.
This is the side of real estate photography you don’t see on Instagram. But it's part of the bigger picture. I’m not just here for luxury homes and sunset-lit patios. I want to help tell the story of all properties in Mid-Michigan. Whether it’s a move-in ready ranch in Flushing or a project house in north Flint—every property deserves good photos. Every property matters.
